· 5 Thunder players had at least 5 hits in the tournament

· Lindsay W (7 for 12, 0.583, 0.677 on-base average) — 2 RBI, 2 RS

· Julie P (6 for 12, 0.500, double) — 2 RBI, 3 RS

· Lindsey N (8 for 17, 0.471, 1.000 slugging %) — 2 doubles, 2 triples, 1 home run, 6 RBI, 6 RS

· Shannon A (7 for 18, 0.389, 0.722 slugging %) — 3 triples, 6 RBI, 4 RS

· Kelsie B (5 for 16, 0.313) — 3 RBI, 5 RS

· Megan D batted 0.500 with a double and 2 RBI...

· Kelsie B and Kerstin W had 0 strikeouts — Ashley B, Brianna J, Lindsey N, and Megan D had only 1 strikeout each...

· Kerstin W was a “bandit” on the bases, scoring several runs for the Thunder…

· The Thunder had to play without one of their key players, spark-plug Courtney D — she was missed…

· Also unable to play due to knee surgery, Shawna K provided inspiration from the bench and was named Honorary Junior Assistant Coach — solidifying her role as a team leader…

· Kelsie B and Shannon A each pitched 16 innings and recorded a total of 29 strikeouts...

Pool Play (0-1-1)

 

Game 1:  Thunder 3, SC Hurricanes 3 (4 innings)

After spotting the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead after 1 inning, the Thunder tied it in the bottom of the 2nd on a couple of walks, a sacrifice bunt by Brianna J and an RBI single by Traci S.  The Thunder went up 3-2 after 3 innings, but the Hurricanes plated a game tying run in the 4th before time ran out — Shannon A struck out 4 with no walks.

 

Game 2:  Thunder 3, SC X-Treme 5 (4 innings)

Holding a 3-run lead after 3 innings — scoring 3 runs with 2 outs in the 2nd inning on hits by Kelsie B and Lindsay W and an RBI double by Julie P — the Thunder defense faltered, allowing 5 runs in the final frame to drop the final pool play game.
