Hanover
Thunder Blue Wins Pool Play Bracket
(3-0) on Saturday Before Dropping 2 on
Sunday
At RFP in Richmond, the Hanover Thunder
Blue team walked through pool play on
Saturday winning 3 games by a combined
28 runs. On Sunday, against strong
competition, the Thunder lost to the
Augusta Flames 9-7 which dropped them
into the Silver Bracket to play a team
(Richmond Speed) they beat 8-2 on
Saturday. Unfortunately, the
Thunder couldn't get the sticks working
against the Speed and gave up one big
inning to end the tournament run.
For the tournament, the Thunder batted
0.333 with over 0.500 on-base
average. Although Sunday was
disappointing, the Thunder should be
encouraged and motivated to work even
harder for their next tournament (Labor
Day). Of the 12 teams in the
tournament, there were no teams that
outclassed the Thunder. The
Thunder has the talent to compete with
any of the better teams in the
tournament (like the Augusta Flames,
Diamond Crushers, Elkton Diamond
Cutters, and Richmond Speed).

Summaries and Tournament Stats
Quick
Quips:
 | Lynnse C, Lindsey W, and Madison C
were named captains for the weekend
based on their effort and attitude
during Wednesday's practice. |
 | Camp Kenny (W) never ceases to
amaze with his portable grillin'
efforts -- everyone enjoyed
hamburgers and hot dogs Saturday
afternoon thanks to Kenny's efforts
-- thanks to everyone for bringing
the food, sides, and drinks that
contributed to the wonderful
lunch! -- Fan of the Weekend
award goes to Donna W as she (and
Baby W) endured extreme heat
to cheer on the Thunder. |
 | Many of the Thunder Clan enjoyed
some fun and sun at the K's after
Saturday's games -- crab-n-shrimp
were awesome! |
 | Megan D continues to impress --
all the hard work is paying off -
keep it up! |
 | Thanks to Jen C. for filling in
for Coach John this weekend and once
again for keeping stats! |
 | Courtney D and Lindsey N went
their 3rd straight tournament
without a strikeout -- those 2
combined with Lynnse C and Taylor D
have only 3 strikeouts total in 148
at-bats over the last 3 tournaments. |
 | Madison C to Lynnse C to Lacie M
was the combo that provided one of
the best defensive plays of the day
on Saturday -- trying to stretch a
single into a double, Madison C
quickly fielded the base hit to
right, fired a bullet to Lynnse C
who drilled Lacie M in the mit to
make the tag on the runner coming
into second. |
 | Special thanks to Meredith H who
was key contributor over the weekend |
