Hanover Thunder Battles in 16-team Tourney

SoftballNation Memorial Day Tournament Results

             At Trevett Elementary and Dumbarton Complex, Hanover Thunder – Blue earned a berth in the Gold division for Sunday with a 2-1 record on Saturday.  The team battled hard on Sunday but dropped 2 games to finish the tourney with 2-3 record.
            For the tournament, Thunder Blue scored 45 runs while giving up 33.  Thunder Blue should be proud of the effort and the experience gained in helping to build the foundation for future success.

Individual Highlights:

bulletCourtney D had another good tournament at the plate (batted ~0.300, scored 5-runs), was awesome behind the plate catching most innings, and also gained some important experience in the circle (pitching).
bulletLynnse C was nearly flawless at 2nd base and contributed 7 runs-scored batting over 0.300 for the weekend.
bulletLindsey N scored 8 runs in the tournament and was 9 for 14 (0.643 average) including a home run
bulletTaylor D had a solid all-around tournament -- she recorded 2 victories on the mound, batted 0.500 with an incredible 4 doubles and 10 RBI -- she hit the ball hard nearly every at-bat
bulletShawna K (aka Brooks Robinson) had several "web gems" at 3rd base to go along with a 0.417 batting average -- she scored 5 runs and had 4 RBI for the weekend
bulletMadison C (aka Derek Jeter) played a wicked shortstop with a couple of diving stops and kept several runners off-base with her play at first base
bulletBrianna J hit the ball hard all weekend (batting ~0.300) -- she had 2 doubles and knocked in 7 runs -- she also made a highlight catch in left field on Sunday
bulletAshley B went 1-2 and scored 2 runs in the win against a tough Riptides team on Saturday -- she also made several outstanding plays in center field
bulletMacKenzie H scored 2 runs including a key run in the 10-5 win against the Riptides
bulletTaylor S hit the ball well all weekend -- she had 7 RBI including a base clearing triple against the Bobcats
