2005 Recap

Thunder Blue Ends Season on a High Note!

The Thunder Blue team struggled early but pulled together for an impressive win over an outstanding Yorktown Revolution team in the rain-shortened Portsmouth tournament.  In the first game against the Virginia Aces, the Thunder couldn't recover from a sloppy 1st inning and fell 12-4.  In the second game of pool-play, the Thunder played better, but still fell 4-2 to the Virginia Classic.
In the final game of the day, and of the season due to rain Sunday, the Thunder showed their true-colors with a near flawless effort against the Yorktown Revolution.  Sarah B pitched an outstanding 5 innings giving up only 1 hit (no runs).  Madison C, Lacie M, and Taylor D combined to hit 7 for 9 to lift the team to the 5-0 win.
On Sunday against the Blue Angels, after getting 3 runners on base in the top of the 1st, the rain and thunder (not Hanover) caused the game and tournament to be cancelled.  After the "low" Saturday morning, the Thunder girls showed their potential to put together one of their best games of the year against the Revolution.  As always, the support of the families and friends was (and is) very much appreciated...time to get a little rest (away from softball) and re-energize for what will be an exciting 2007 campaign!

Quick Quips:

bulletSaturday night the team stayed at the Springhill Suites, this was the first true "travel" tournament for the team...
bulletWhile waiting for the season finale game on Saturday, a friendly wager between the coaches and players was made...win and the coaches get thrown into the hotel pool (with clothes on), lose and the girls could not go swimming at the indoor pool...the coaches were happy to take the plunge!!
bulletThanks to Thunder Red's Ashlee N for her support over the weekend!
bulletA very accommodating Red Robin restaurant hosted the Thunder clan (about 30+ people) for the Saturday evening meal...
